The New Jersey Business & Industry Association provides information, services and advocacy to its member companies in order to build a more prosperous New Jersey. We are the nation’s largest statewide employer association. Our members, as a group, employ more than one million people.

Founded in 1910, as the New Jersey Manufacturers Association, this organization began as a group of manufacturers who wanted to share ideas about workplace safety while having a say in government policies affecting their businesses. The Association later formed New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance to protect their members with workers compensation insurance.

As the New Jersey Manufacturers Association entered the last 25 years of the 20th century, the makeup of its membership changed dramatically, reacting to changes in the overall economy.  For this reason, the Association changed its name to the New Jersey Business & Industry Association in the mid-1970s.

Today, our members represent every industry in the State, including contractors, manufacturers, retail and wholesale businesses, and service providers of every kind.

NJBIA is widely regarded as the most credible and effective advocate for business in the Garden State. Our headquarters at 10 West Lafayette Street in Trenton is strategically located near the State Capitol and our staff of government affairs experts testify frequently before the Legislature and state agencies to protect the interests of our members.

New Jersey State League of Municipalities

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities is a voluntary association created to help communities do a better job of self-government through pooling information resources and brain power. It is authorized by State Statute and since, 1915, has been serving local officials throughout the Garden State. All 565 municipalities are members of the League. Over 560 mayors and 13,000 elected and appointed officials of member municipalities are entitled to all of the services and privileges of the League.

The League publishes a magazine titled New Jersey Municipalities which reports up-to-the-minute information on municipal administration and procedures by practical examples, news notes and new laws. It is one of the reading “musts” for municipal officials and is sent to more than 8,500 readers each month.

In addition to the magazine, other League services include: Bureau of Municipal Information; Ordinances and Codes; Research; Legislative Analysis; Legislative Bulletins; New Laws; Contracts, In-Service Training; Personal Consultation; Instructional Seminars; and Research Publications.
